Everyone I knew seemed to have their birthday between April 15 and 20. I made two batches of these beauties to celebrate my friend’s, my coworker’s, and my sister’s birthdays. The cake is made with my all-time favorite recipe, Black Magic Cake (it’s on Allrecipies.com, and you can tell from the ratings that I’m not the only one in love with this recipe). The ganache came from another recipe on the Food Network’s website. I think my favorite thing about the ganache is that you add powdered espresso to it. Between the espresso, the super dark 60% chocolate, and the coffee that you add to the cake, these cupcakes have plenty of caffeine! My friend ate them for breakfast, and I bet they gave her a good kickstart to her day!
